My Birthday Girl…My Love!

It is that time of the year when celebrations and festivities have already started in most households. The aphrodisiac aroma of Shiuli or Night Jasmine, a noble flower in autumn tradition symbolizes the divine love—the precious raw material that transforms a simple fragrance in to a love potion.  And it is this month that I celebrate the birthday of a girl, who is dear and near to me—Pampa, my wife and friend for life!  And this year, 2014, is so special because it falls on the same day Hindus celebrate Diwali and Lakshmi Puja and in the East of India, Bengalis celebrate Kali Puja. And coincidence is that when she was born some 33 years back, it was the same day that people celebrated Diwali and Kali Puja—Hindus celebrate their festivals based on the position of the Sun and Moon and hence the days change every year.  And with each year, I have seen her grow in to a model of balance when it comes to life and work. But for me, the most important thing is that she still carries the child-like innocence in her and I pray that to The Almighty that she always does. And with each year, I discover a new quality in her—the passion she has for art is so motivating for me. And what a wonderful teacher she is, especially with kids. And talking about her beauty; for me it is ethereal  And I think, on this day I have all the rights to get a little mushy and here is a small verse that echo’s my sentiments (I may not be the original author though):

Pampa's Birthday
Pampa’s Birthday

“For you, I could give you the stars; I’d gather them inside my heart,
I’d wrap them in love and brighten each day of your life…with Starlight,
Happy Birthday Pampa”
